Physical Remodel

The project objective was to convert a vacated Sears Retail store to a full-service United States Main Post office facility in the Mall of the Bluff located at 1751 Madison Street, Council Bluffs IA. Works consisted of force entry secure perimeter wall delineation of the space from public mall, utility separation, 100% fire, life safety, Securitas security, access control and ADA improvements along with fit-out for Postal Service amenities to include post office boxes, parcel drop and pickup, postal counter retail service center, pass-port administration, mail sorting and distribution center, surface parking and security fencing for USPS vehicles. Works were performed within a full operation retail mall environment throughout construction with special provisions provided for a construction zone and public use separation and safety.  The project was completed on time and in budget.  The new facility replaced the former Downtown main post office for City of Council Bluffs which they had outgrown and had challenging parking and access issues.
